Al-Aqsa Mosque Ceiling
jer-10-350.jpg

Creative Notes

Once again, I am using symetry to present an unusual image in an ordered fashion. The beautiful blue tilework of the ceiling flanked by stained glass windows is a powerful part of this mosque's architecture, one which is not frequently isolated in photographs. It runs the length of the building and is in striking contrast with the red carpeting.

Technical Notes

Inside the mosque, the existing light is barely tolerable for hand held shots. Only with a yawning f/2.8 and ISO-400 was I able to reach a 1/30 second shutter speed. A little exposure compensation was nessesary because of the bright windows which helped a bit. The original image was not perfectly centered nor quite perpendicular to the ceiling so cropping and perspective correction was applied.
