Jerusalem Street
jer-02-350.jpg

Creative Notes

This winding road is on the east side of the Old City walls and follows the contour of the Valley Kidron, below the Golden Gate and up over Mount Zion. This particular view of the road caught my attention because of the asthetic way the bollards trace the bend in the road. I consider this photograph to be one of my better shots of Jerusalem.

Technical Notes

This is another long exposure night shot. The combination of arson lights and Jerusalem stone creates a yellow tone that permeates these night photographs. Even after color balancing, the effect is still present. I reduced the saturation of the colors just slightly which gives the photograph a more ancient feel. The star pattern in the light is accomplished by stopping down the lens to f/9.5. Note that my 50mm lens has eight blades in the diaphram which translates to an eight pointed star.
